South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Announces Astroturf Field Hockey Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced its AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for matches played during the sixth weekend of the season. Newberry's Carly Ellis was named Offensive Player of the Week while Mount Olive's Victoria Lane was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Ellis, a junior from Virginia Beach, VA., helped lead the Wolves to a 2-0 record after facing Belmont Abbey and Coker this past week. Overall, she scored five goals, garnering 10 points with 7 shots on goal for a .714 shooting percentage. This is the first Offensive Player of the Week honor for Ellis.
Lane, a sophomore goalie from Louisa, VA., was an instrumental part in Mount Olive's victories over Coker and No. 10 Limestone this past weekend. Overall, Lane had 13 saves for a .813 save percentage after spending 120 minutes between the bars. This is the second Defensive Player of the Week award for Lane this season.
