Crusaders Sweep South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Astroturf Field Hockey Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced its AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for matches played during the second weekend of the season. Belmont Abbey's Gianna Conti was named Offensive Player of the Week while teammate, Chloe Parker was named Defensive Player of the Week. 

Conti, a freshman midfielder from Cherry Hill, N.J., helped lead the Crusaders to a 3-0 record after facing Converse, Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock.  Overall, she scored five goals, garnering 10 points with nine shots on goal for a .500 shooting percentage. This is the first Offensive Player of the Week honor for Conti.

Parker, a freshman goalie from Virginia Beach, Va., was an instrumental part in the Crusaders victory's this past weekend. She allowed only one goal in her game against Converse making 18 saves overall for a .947 save percentage, this helped Parker to tie the school's shutout record with two. This is the first Defensive Player of the Week award for Parker.
