Belmont Abbey Sweeps South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Astroturf Field Hockey Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced its AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for matches played during the second week of the season. Belmont Abbey swept this week's honors with Camrynn Aiello who was named Offensive Player of the Week, and teammate Julianna Smith who was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Aiello, a junior forward from Centereach, N.Y., helped lead the Crusaders to their first ever win over Queens, beating them 4-2 this past weekend. She scored the opening goal garnering two points just five minutes into the game and took a total of four shots on goal. This is the first Offensive Player of the Week honor for Aiello
Smith, a sophomore goalie from Carmel, Calif., allowed just two goals with five saves for a .714 save percentage. This is the second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week award for Smith.
