South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Announces AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced the AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for week five of the 2019 season. Belmont Abbey's Maddie Mitchell was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Limestone's Daisy Ruhle was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Mitchell, a sophomore forward from Kitchener, Ontario, led the Crusaders to a 2-0 record last week with a 6-0 win over Converse and a 4-3 win over Newberry. She scored two goals and had an assist against Converse and added a goal and two more assists against Newberry. She finished the week with three goals and three assists for nine points. This is Mitchell's first offensive player of the week honor of the season.
Ruhle, a freshman goalie from Marlow, England, surrendered just one goal in 125 minutes of action last week, while leading the Saints to a 2-0 record. She shutout Mount Olive 4-0 and allowed just one goal while making six saves in the Saints' 2-1 overtime win against Bloomsburg. For the week Ruhle had a .857 save percentage. This is her first defensive player of the week accolade of the season.
