South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Announces AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced the AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for week four of the 2019 season. Newberry's Kristyna Oyola was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Coker's Alyssa Baronella-O'Toole was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Oyola, a senior forward from Virginia Beach, Va., led the Wolves to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Mount Olive (6-0) and Converse (3-1). She scored a goal and had an assist versus Mount Olive and she added another goal against Converse. She finished the week with two goals and an assist for five points. This is Oyola's first offensive player of the week accolade of the season.
Baronella-O'Toole, a senior defender from Severn, Md., anchored the Coker backline as the Cobras went 1-1 on the week, including a thrilling 5-4 double-overtime win over Limestone. In addition to holding opponents to just 26 shots and seven goals for the week, Baronella-O'Toole netted the game-winner for the Cobras in their win over Limestone. This is the first defensive player of the week honor for Baronella-O'Toole this season.
