South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Announces AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced its first-ever AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for matches played during the week of Sept. 17 through Sept. 23. Limestone's Kate Remley was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Queens University of Charlotte's Jet Van den berg was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Remley, a junior midfielder from Chesapeake, Va., scored two goals on six shots for four points in the Saints 4-2 win over South Atlantic Conference Carolinas foe Coker last week. She currently has four goals on the year, leading both the Saints and the conference. This is Remley's first Player of the Week honor this season.
Van den berg, a freshman goalie from Arnhem, Netherlands, helped lead the Royals to three wins last week, including two conference victories. In more than 100 minutes of action, Van den berg did not allow a single goal and made 12 stops in the Royals' 3-2 win over Mansfield. She now leads the conference in save percentage (.833) and goals against average (1.20). This Van den berg's second Defensive Player of the Week award this season.
