Belmont Abbey Sweeps South Atlantic Conference Carolinas AstroTurf Field Hockey Player of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced its first-ever AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for matches played during the first week of the season.  Belmont Abbey's Kayley Williams was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Paige Hinds was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Williams, a junior midfielder from Crofton, Md., led the Crusaders to a 3-2 win over Newberry in the first-ever South Atlantic Conference Carolinas field hockey match last week. She found the back of the net twice on three shots for four points. This is the first Offensive Player of the Week honor for Williams.

Hinds, junior goalie from Culpepper, Va., helped lead the Crusaders to their 3-2 conference win over Newberry last week. She allowed just two goals with eight saves on 10 shots for a .800 save percentage. This is the first Defensive Player of the Week award for Hinds.
