Mars Hill drops 100 in win over Johnson & Wales
The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-3) defeated Johnson & Wales (4-3) by a score of 101-70 Friday night on the road.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-3) defeated Johnson & Wales (4-3) by a score of 101-70 Friday night on the road.
Mars Hill led 24-16 after the first 10 minutes of play. Maddie Gillie netted 12 and pulled down six rebounds to lead all players. Tanaeschia Dorsey led the Wildcats with six points.
The Lions dominated the second quarter, causing 11 turnovers and hitting 61 percent of their shots from the floor, recording 33 points. Janette Hanni led all players with 10 points followed by Zanah Boyd's eight. Jo Snow dished out five assists in the quarter while Gillie led all players with four steals.
The third quarter saw both teams record 27 points as Jordan Durant led all players with 13 points in the stanza. Snow led the Lions with 11 and racked up another three assists. To close out the contest, the Lions scored 17 points in the fourth to go over the 100-point barrier for the first time since the 2019 season finale versus Queens.
Hanni led all players with a career-high 26 points. Both Gillie and Snow recorded double-doubles. Gillie scored 21 and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds while Snow scored 17 and racked up 12 assists. Boyd ended the night with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Mars Hill returns to the floor on Tuesday, December 6 when they face Mount Olive on the road. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
