Mars Hill felled by C-N in SAC Tournament
The Mars Hill baseball team (17-22) fell to Carson-Newman (25-14) by a score of 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference tournament play Thursday afternoon.

KODAK, Tenn. - The Mars Hill baseball team (17-22) fell to Carson-Newman (25-14) by a score of 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference tournament play Thursday afternoon.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Harrison Travis singled to left, plating Gunnar Ricketts. After a sacrifice fly in the second inning, Carson-Newman added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Ricketts scored his second run of the game off of a Henry Jackson single up the middle. Jackson later scored on a RBI groundout off the bat of Matt Parkinson.
Ricketts and Jackson led all players with two hits apiece. Zach Weaver, Austin Treadway, and Paul Martin recorded all Mars Hill hits on the day.
Brayden Coe struck out nine, allowing three hits in the complete game win. Andrew Hazell allowed three runs on five hits in five innings pitched in the losing effort. In relief work, AJ Chacon struck out three batters in three innings.
