MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's soccer team (3-3-1,1-2 SAC) fell by a score of 2-0 against Queens (3-2-1, 2-0-1 SAC) Saturday afternoon inside Meares Stadium.
Queens' Felipe Mendonca managed to open the scoring with only 1:17 taken off the clock. The Lions answered back by outshooting the Royals 11-1 for the remainder of the half. Both Kevonte Willoughby-Williams and Sebastian Bertilsson ended the half with three shot attempts apiece.
The Royals' Andre Castro scored in the 87th minute of the competition and the Royals added an additional seven shots in the second half totaling nine for the game. Mendonca picked up his third point of the afternoon with the assist.
Castro and Joe Lilley led the Royals with two shot attempts apiece while Willoughby-Williams and Bertilsson led the Lions with three.
Nicolai Anderson made three saves for the win while Brennan Whalen stopped one in the loss.
The Lions return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 29 when they face Lincoln Memorial. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
