Trojans Drop Road Contest At Carson-Newman; 2-0

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – Anderson University (3-6-1, 1-4-1 SAC) women's soccer team dropped its South Atlantic Conference match at Carson-Newman (6-3-2, 4-2 SAC), 2-0, on Saturday evening at McCown Field.

"We had a better response second half," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We can't afford to put ourselves in a hole that early against a good team."

The Eagles scored two first half goals, with the first just 33 seconds into the contest to set the tone for the evening. Carson-Newman's second goal of the match came at the 24 minute mark in the first half of action.

Carson-Newman outshot the Black and Gold, 24 (13)-6 (5) and was able to take nine corner kicks to AU's four.

Anderson had five shots on goal, however Eagle keeper Lilly Ebner was able to make all five saves. Anderson's junior keeper Jeanette Campbell was credited with 11 saves on the evening. Campbell leads the SAC in the save category with 82.

The Black and Gold will travel to SAC opponent Newberry on Wednesday. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm.
