Limestone picks up SAC win over Women’s Lacrosse Wednesday night

Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's lacrosse team fell to Limestone University at Shuford Stadium Wednesday night 21-2 in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action. The Saints improve to 11-2 overall and 6-1 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians 3-12 on the season and 1-7 in league action.

Sarah Maier and Mary Sorvillo were the goal scorers for Catawba. Joey Baillie recorded two ground balls and two caused turnovers and Evie Kauserud made 16 saves in goal.

The Saints scored the first two goals before Sorvillo's goal cut Catawba's deficit in half. Limestone scored the final four goals of the opening 15 minutes to take a 6-1 lead into the quarter break.

LU scored three straight to open the second period before Maier's late-shot clock goal cut Catawba's deficit to 9-2 at the 9:09 mark of the second quarter. Limestone scored the final three goals of the half, leading 12-2 at the break.

The Saints would keep Catawba out of the back of the net for the remainder of the game, scoring all nine goals in the second half to earn the win.

Catawba returns to action on Saturday, hosting Lincoln Memorial on Senior Day at 4 p.m.
