Men's Soccer Picks Up Third Consecutive Shutout Victory; Blanks Queens 1-0

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Anderson University men's soccer team won their third consecutive game on Thursday (Mar. 18) with a 1-0 victory over the Queens Royals.

In their previous match, the Trojans defeated the Limestone Saints last week by a score of 2-0, while defeating Newberry 1-0 on March 4th. Anderson came into tonight's game trying to avenge a 2-1 OT loss to Queens suffered at Trojan Stadium on February 25th.

Anderson was able to take the lead in the 42nd minute when Miguel Gallegos found the back of the net, as the Trojans took the 1-0 lead into halftime. The Trojan back line continued to hold strong, led by defenders Tevin Lessey, Mariano Carpena, and Bryce Goodwyn. Goalkeeper Gal Elyashiv also came up big with seven saves on the night to lead Anderson to their third consecutive shutout victory.

"It has been exciting to see the continued progress we are making as a team," said coach Michael Zion. "We are excited to get a win against a talented Queens side. Our last victory over the Royals was 12 years ago, we are glad to finally check this goal off our list."

The Trojans will be back in action on Thursday (Mar. 25) as they play host to the Limestone Saints. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m., with live coverage available at www.autrojans.com.
