Bertilsson's late strike puts Lions over Pioneers

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (1-0-1, 1-0 SAC) upended Tusculum (1-1-0, 0-1 SAC) by a score of 1-0 Thursday evening in the Lions' South Atlantic Conference opener on the road.
In the 85th minute, Sebastian Bertilsson scored his second goal of the season with a header, pushing it past Joao Kozlowski. Luke Manley and Rasmus Nielsen earned assists on the game-winning goal.
The Lions, who were outshot 4-3 in the first half, topped Tusculum, 4-2, in the second.
Tusculum put two shots on goal including one in the 12th minute off the boot of Jean-Pierre Vital. Vital put the second shot on goal in the 75 minute.
Bertilsson and Jeppe Christensen led the Lions with two shots on goal apiece.
Brennan Whalen made both saves to preserve the shutout and earn his first win of the season.
Mars Hill returns to the pitch on Thursday, March 4 when they travel to Jefferson City, Tennessee to take on Carson-Newman. The match is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
