Trojans Defensive Effort Results in a Season Low Output by Lincoln Memorial; 54-32

Harrogate, Tenn. — The Anderson University women's basketball team used a strong defensive effort to win its seventh straight contest over Lincoln Memorial, 54-32, Wednesday evening at Tex Turner Arena. Anderson moves to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while the Railsplitters slip to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in SAC action.

"I am extremely proud of our defense tonight especially coming out of halftime," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "We have to continue to play that way all game"

"It's always tough to win on the road, so anytime you can get one you have to!," exclaimed Barbaree.

KEY STATS

- Anderson shot 23-61 (38%) from the floor, while Lincoln Memorial shot just 11-60 (18%).
- The Trojans held LMU to just 1-of-18 (6%) behind the arc.
- Anderson outrebounded the Railsplitters 51-40.
- Anderson scored 32 points in the paint, with AU's bench outscoring the Railsplitter's reserves 29 to 17.

KEY TROJANS

Britney Bailey scored a game-high 15 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists.
- Taylor Hair scored 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots.
- Britney Bailey contributed eight points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots in her starting debut.
- Jalyn Spurlin ripped down seven rebounds, chipped in six points and handed out one assist.


NOTES

- The 32 points allowed by Anderson was a season low through nine games.

FIRST QUARTER

- Anderson made layup by Alex Tate at the 6:04 mark was the first basket of the game.
- The Trojans outscored the Railsplitters 13-6 in the opening stanza.

SECOND QUARTER

- Anderson J'Mya Cutter's made 3-point basketball to begin the second quarter pushed the lead to 10 points.
- LMU then outscored the Trojans 14 to six to close the halftime score to, 22-20.

THIRD QUARTER

- Hair's second chance layup with 8:48 began the second half scoring.
- LMU's Proffitt quickly answered back with a made jumper, before the Railsplitters hit a nearly six minute scoring drought.

- Cutter's layup to close the quarter gave Anderson its largest lead of the game, 40-24.

FOURTH QUARTER

- Anderson's lead hovered around 14 points for the majority of the quarter.
- Hair scored six points in a 45 second span to push AU's lead to 20
- B. Bailey scored the final two buckets for the Black and Gold to set the final score, 54-32.
