Trojans Play Saints to a 1-1 Draw

ANDERSON, S.C.– Anderson University women's soccer scored a second half goal to tie South Atlantic Conference opponent Limestone, 1-1, and the contest would eventually end in a draw on Wednesday evening at Saints Field.

"I could not be more proud of the effort and belief displayed by the entire team tonight," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "That was a gritty performance and I am happy to come away with one-point."

Limestone broke open the scoreless contest in the 46th minute of action. Azumi Manriki's low left shot found the back of the net to give the Saints a, 1-0, advantage.

Anderson answered back in the 58th minute on sophomore's Carson Kelly's goal. Kelly gathered a loose ball and used a high shot to put the ball past the keeper.

The Trojans and Saints played a stalemate the remaining of regulation and the two overtime periods to end in a draw.

The Saints outshot the Trojans 29(16) – 7(4) while also winning the corner kick advantage, 5-3.

Anderson's keeper Jeanette Campbell recorded 15 saves on the match.

The Black and Gold will return to action on Saturday when they travel to South Atlantic Conference opponent Catawba. Kick-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
