Men's Soccer Blanked By Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Queens posted a 3-0 victory over visiting Catawba in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday night at Dickson Field. The Royals improve to 3-6-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians drop to 6-4-2 and 2-4-1.

Queens took the lead late in the first half. Matheus Pereira scored unassisted in the 41st minute for a 1-0 lead at the break. A minute into the second half the Royals added to the margin on a tally from Felipe Mendonca. An own goal in the 87th minute made for the final margin.

The Royals edged Catawba 10-8 in shots and 2-1 in corner kicks. Gianluca Tommasi recorded one save for the Indians with Nicolai Andersen stopping three shots for the Royals.

Catawba heads to Mars Hill for a 3:30 p.m. match on Saturday.
