Mars Hill defeated by Bulldogs on road
The Mars Hill men's basketball team (1-13, 0-7 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (12-3, 7-0 SAC) by a score of 100-83.
WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (1-13, 0-7 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (12-3, 7-0 SAC) by a score of 100-83.
Wingate shot 50 percent from the floor while hitting 6-of-10 three-pointers to lead 47-33 after the first 20 minutes of play. Donell Nixon led all players in the half with 11 points followed by eight apiece from both Kendall Taylors and Vontrez Roberts.
Kory Davis and Caleb Mauldin led the Lions with eight points apiece while Kadyn Dawkins added seven. The trio of Mauldin, London Maiden, and Marvin Hires pulled down three rebounds apiece.
The teams combined for 103 points in the second half with the Bulldogs netting 53 in the frame. Nixon led the team with 13 points followed by 11 from Taylor. Wingate shot 72 percent from the floor.
Mars Hill shot 55 percent in the second half as Davis led the team with 16 points. Dawkins added 15. Kendall Davis led the team with three assists in the half.
Nixon led the Bulldogs with 24 points followed by 19 from Taylor. Davis led the Lions with 24 points while Dawkins ended the night with 22.
The Lions return to the floor on Wednesday, January 17 when they host Lincoln Memorial. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. inside Chambers Gymnasium.
