HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
Each team got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the second inning, with Chandler Castleberry leading off the frame by drawing a walk and Tyler Berry followed by getting hit by a pitch. Davis Goodyear then loaded the bases by bunting for a single. With bases loaded and no outs, freshman Brayden Owens singled to right field to plate Castleberry from third with the game's first run. Junior Jacob Kohns then lofted a fly ball deep enough into right field to bring home Berry, giving AU an early 2-0 advantage.

UVA Wise took advantage of three singles and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning to knot the score at 2-2.

The Cavaliers built a 5-2 lead by adding three runs in the bottom of the third and took a four-run lead with a solo run in the bottom of the fourth. They posted six more runs in the bottom of the sixth frame to round out the scoring.

Game 2
Behind Vella's three-run shot and Fox's first home run of the season, the Trojans jumped out to a 7-2 advantage after two innings, but the Cavaliers answered with a pair of runs in the third frame and two more in the fourth inning to trim AU's lead to just one (7-6) after four innings.

But the Trojans scored two runs in the fifth inning, six in the decisive sixth inning and added three more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

The 18 runs scored by AU in the second game marked the most runs scored by the Trojans since defeating Lenoir-Rhyne, 19-6, on Feb. 22, 2018 at Memorial Stadium.
