#24 Lenoir-Rhyne comes from behind to knock off Baseball

Hickory, N.C. —- The Catawba College baseball team led 7-0 over Lenoir-Rhyne, but the Bears came from behind to win 15-9 in non-conference action in Hickory Tuesday afternoon. LR improves to 17-5 overall, while the Catawba Indians drop to 11-8 on the year.

Levi Perrell led the way for Catawba offensively, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Carson Yates added three hits, while Cameron Mills recorded a pair of doubles and Jackson Finger swiped a pair of bases.

Catawba scored six runs in the top of the first off RBI from Jackson Price, Perrell, Drew Robertson and Finger. The Catawba Indians then added another run in the second, as Rogers scored Robertson on a single to give Catawba a commanding 7-0 lead after two innings.

The Bears chipped away at the lead, scoring five runs in the third and two more in the fifth, tying the game on Bryce Stober single to center. Catawba retook the lead in the sixth, however when Perrell and Yates scored on a passed ball and an error. 

LR went on to score the game's final eight runs including a five-spot in the eighth to open up a slim 10-9 lead into the 15-9 final result.

Gavin Marley gets the win for the Bears, while Joseph Webb takes the loss for Catawba, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings. Braden Houston earned the six-out save for Lenoir-Rhyne.

Catawba returns the road tomorrow, traveling to North Georgia for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
