Lions open SAC play versus Limestone at home

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (1-2, 0-1 SAC) was defeated 20-4 versus Limestone (2-0, 1-0 SAC) Tuesday afternoon to open South Atlantic Conference play.
The Saints jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before Kiersten Foust cut the deficit to two with her seventh goal of the season. Sydney Joyce picked up the assist.
Limestone responded with a 5-0 run as Brittanie Ouimet completed her hat-trick, scoring two in the run. Maria Fabrizio netted the second Lions' tally with 10:53 remaining in the half, but the Saints countered with a 4-0 run to close the half leading 12-2.
Ouimet scored four in the first half and two assists. Rachel Denney, Julia Foster, and Elizabeth Muscella each scored twice in the opening 30 minutes.
The Saints scored the first two goals of the half before Joyce netted her only goal of the day. Limestone went on a 6-0 that saw Muscella net three more goals and Ouimet add two more assists.
To close out the contest, Fabrizio scored her second with an assist from Alexa Tazzetta.
Ouimet recorded 10 points (5g, 5a) followed by Muscella's seven (6g, 1a). Fabrizio (2g) and Joyce (1g, 1a) led the Lions with two points apiece.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, February 27 when the play game four of their six-game homestand, hosting the Tusculum Pioneers. First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
