Michael sets career-high in season sweep of Saints

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (9-18, 4-13 SAC) defeated Limestone (12-15, 7-10 SAC) by a score of 76-65 Wednesday night inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The contest was tied at 35 all at the end of 20 minutes. The Lions shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, hitting 6-of-12 attempts. Ji'lil Michael drained all three attempts and went 5-of-6 from the floor, leading all players with 14 points while adding three assists. Prosper Obidiebube added 10 points while Trey Belin pulled down seven rebounds and added two assists and two steals in the half.
The Saints shot 50 percent from the floor as Ben Gahlert's nine points paced their offense. Greg McKay chipped in seven points and a team-high four rebounds.
Mars Hill pulled away later in the second half, despite the Saints going on a 10-0 run to pull within two with just over five minutes to play. The Lions shot 60 percent from the floor and hit 43 percent of their three-point attempts, going 3-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Michael continued his hot shooting, going 4-of-5 from the floor for an additional nine points. Belin led all players with 15 points in the half. Isaiah Jones pulled down a team-high six rebounds in the final 20 minutes of play.
McKay led the Saints with 15 points followed by Zeb Graham's 11 points.
The Lions shot just shy of 50 percent on the night, also going 9-of-19 from beyond the arc. Michael led all players and set a new career-high with 23 points, going 9-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-5 from three. Belin ended the night with 15 points and tied Jones for a team-high eight rebounds. Obidiebube netted 12 while Jackson Reid added 10 points on the night.
Mars Hill closes out their 2022-23 season at home on Saturday, February 25 when they host Anderson on Senior Day. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
