Women’s Basketball Stumbles at Newberry; 71-59

Newberry, S.C.- The Anderson University women's basketball dropped its third straight South Atlantic Conference contest falling to Newberry, 71-59, on Thursday evening at the Eleazer Arena. The Trojans fall to 11-9 overall and 10-8 in SAC play, while the Wolves improve to 8-8 overall and 7-8 in conference action.

"Right now we are learning to get stops and scores late in the game," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "That is going to be important come tournament time."

KEY STATS

- Anderson shot 39.4 (26-66) percent from the field, while Newberry shot 48.1 percent (26-54).
- Anderson outrebounded the Wolves, 46-27.
- Newberry shot 42.9% (6-of-14) from behind the arc, with AU shooting 12.5 percent (2-of-16).
- The Black and Gold recorded seven blocked shots.

KEY TROJANS

- Taylor Hair scored a game-high 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and recorded two blocked shots.
Jalyn Spurlin netted 15 points and four rebounds.
- McKenzie Gadson contributed 11 points, chased down six rebounds and dished out four assists.
- Britney Bailey chipped in six points, while ripping down 14 rebounds.

NOTES

- The last time the Trojans lost three straight games was during the 2013-14 season.
