Men’s Tennis Defeats USC Sumter; 8-1

SUMTER, S.C. – The Anderson University men's tennis team pushed its record to 4-0 winning its spring season opener against USC Sumter on Wednesday afternoon at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

With the victory, Anderson moves to 4-0 on the season while USC Sumter to 0-1.

The Trojans entered the match up 2-0, as USC Sumter had to default one singles and one doubles match.

In doubles action, playing at the No. 1 position, senior Nicolas Ascarrunz and freshman Jeffrey Dayton defeated Dylan Sides and Gibril Kinali, 8-1, while senior Juan Carracedo and freshman Jerry Price put away Peter Kovats and Albert Smreczac, 8-1. The Black and Gold picked up the third point by default to head into singles action up 3-0.

The Trojans picked up five of the six singles matches to earn the, 8-1, victory over the Fire Ants.

Anderson returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 4 when it hosts Peach Belt foe Columbus State. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
