Mount Olive, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's tennis team defeated Mount Olive in their season opener on Friday afternoon, 4-3. The Catawba Indians improve to 1-0 on the year, while the Trojans drop to 2-8 on the year.

Catawba took four of six singles matches on the afternoon, including three of the top four. Miya Ami took #1 singles 6-3, 6-3, Alexandra Parra took #2 6-3, 6-3, Matilde Moretti took a close #3's match 6-3, 7-6 and Carolina Correia won the #6 match 6-0, 6-2. 

While Mount Olive took two of three doubles points, Sofia Hernandez and Correia clinched the team win with a doubles point, 6-3.

The Catawba Indians open up their home campaign on Monday, hosting Bluefield State at 11 a.m.
