Snow nets 16 versus LMU

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-12, 0-8 SAC) was defeated by Lincoln Memorial (11-6, 4-4 SAC) by a score of 78-44 Wednesday night inside Chambers Gymnasium.
At the end of the first quarter, the Railsplitters led 22-16. Saquita Joyner scored 14 of the team's points, shooting 75 percent from the floor. She hauled in a team-high five rebounds. The Lions were led by the duo of Jo Snow and Maddie Gillie, each netting six points in the frame.
Lincoln Memorial continued to shoot well from the floor in the second half, hitting 50 percent of their shots. They carried a 12-point lead into the half, up 39-27 after 20 minutes of play. Joyner pulled in another five rebounds to complete the double-double. Snow scored a team-high for the Lions as she put up another six points.
The Railsplitters outscored the Lions 39-17 in the second half and ended the contest with hitting 57 percent of shots from the floor, hitting 12-of-20 three point attempts.
Joyner led all players with 28 points and 13 rebounds while Alexa Smiddy netted 16 on the night. Smiddy also added a game-high eight assists.
The Lions were led by Snow's 16 points and followed by Gillie's 11 on the night. Both Gillie and Janette Hanni led the Lions with five rebounds apiece.
Mars Hill returns to the court on Saturday, January 21 when they face Warren Wilson in non-conference play on the road. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
