Baseball falls at #1 North Greenville

Tigerville, S.C. —- The Catawba College baseball team dropped a non-conference at top-ranked North Greenville on Wednesday night, 14-2 in NCAA Division II baseball action. The Crusaders improve to 36-5 overall, while the Catawba Indians drop to 23-18 on the season.

Jackson Price led Catawba with a pair of hits and a run scored, while Cooper Bryson recorded a hit and scored. Jalen Vazquez led NGU, going 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, four RBI and a pair of runs scored.

Vazquez's homer came in the first inning, giving North Greenville a 3-0 lead after the first frame. JR Lingerfelt and Levi Perrell worked bases-loaded walks in the second inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.

The Crusaders scored the game's final 11 runs to earn the mid-week victory.

Brandon Rodgers got saddled with the loss, allowing four earned runs on five hits and two walks in two innings of work.

Catawba is back at Newman Park on Saturday, continuing South Atlantic Conference play with a doubleheader versus Tusculum scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
