Men's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Tilt at Barton

WILSON, N.C. - Coker University men's lacrosse dropped its non-conference tilt at Barton on Saturday (Feb. 26) by a score of 10-7.

The Cobras got on the board first with an unassisted goal from Cal Gibson, before Barton responded with the next two goals. Coker tied the game with 2:45 to play in the first quarter with an unassisted marker from Dominic Madlang, before Barton took a 3-2 lead with 37 seconds to play in the first. Henry Haskett would tie the game from Nathan Allan just six seconds later as the teams played to a 3-3 tie after one quarter.

Barton would out-score Coker 3-1 in the second quarter to take a 6-4 lead to the half, with Will Habel scoring the Coker goal in the period assisted by Haskett.

Each team would score once in the third quarter, with Coker's goal coming from Caden Gore off an assist from Habel. Barton would take a 7-5 lead to the fourth quarter.

Barton out-scored Coker 3-2 in the fourth, with Coker scoring the last two goals of the game. Justin Beighey scored from Haskett with 6:40 to play, before Gibson scored from Madlang with just over a minute to play.

Gibson netted two goals for Coker, while five others each scored once in the game. Haskett assisted on two goals in the game, while three others helped on one Coker goal in the contest. Ethan Hofert led the Cobras with five ground balls, while Allan, Corey Gales and Connor Gross each registered four. Four other Cobras picked up ground balls in the game. Gross also caused Coker's lone turnover in the game. Hofert made 12 saves between the pipes in the contest.

The Cobras return to action on Saturday (Mar. 5) at No. 8 Lenoir-Rhyne in the South Atlantic Conference opener.  Opening faceoff is set for 4:00 p.m. from Hickory, N.C., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
