Lions' late comeback falls short versus UVA Wise

WISE, Va. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (0-5, 0-3 SAC) was defeated by a score of 77-70 against UVA Wise (1-4, 1-2 SAC) Tuesday night.
The Cavaliers led Mars Hill 40-26 after the first 20 minutes of play. Nia Vanzant scored 15 of the Cavaliers' first half points. In the second quarter, UVA Wise hit four three-pointers while the Lions hit three, highlighted by Emily Novick's two.
Mars Hill outscored UVA Wise in the second half 44-37 with the Lions making a comeback run in the fourth quarter led by Zanah Boyd. Boyd recorded 14 points in the final 10 minutes of play, going 4-of-6 from the floor.
UVA Wise hit over 47 percent of their shots to the Lions' 31 percent. Both teams hit eight three-pointers and the Lions went 16-of-17 from the free throw line.
