Cox-Ashwood's Two Goals Fuel Win Over Tusculum

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's soccer team picked up their second consecutive game on Saturday (Oct. 2) with a 3-0 clean sheet victory over the Tusculum Pioneers.

Entering tonight's match, the Trojans were coming off a 1-0 win over Queens, which was clinched by a penalty kick from Agustin Ortiz in the 85th minute. Anderson carried that momentum into the first half tonight as they were able to take an early 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute courtesy of a goal from Alexandre Cox-Ashwood. Joao Martinho was able to connect with Cox-Ashwood on a cross to the middle of the box for the goal.

The Trojans kept piling on in the second half Cox-Ashwood scored his second goal of the night, and seventh of the season to push the lead to 2-0. A header from Andres Osorio created the goal for Cox-Ashwood. In the 87th minute, the Trojans put the icing on the cake with a goal from Bar Galanti, off an assist from Bryce Goodwyn.

Anderson outshot Tusculum 16 to three, with eight of those shots being on goal. It was another excellent performance from the Trojan defense, finishing with their second consecutive clean sheet. Goalkeeper Gal Elyashiv totaled two saves on the evening.

"I'm proud of the guys and the effort they have put into this week," said coach Michael Zion. "It is hard to be consistent in this game and certainly in a conference as tough as the SAC. Two wins and two shutouts is a great week for our team."

The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 6) as they play host to Erskine. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM, with video and live stats available at www.autrojans.com.
