Men's Lacrosse's Rally Comes Up Short Against Tusculum 9-7

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team came up short in a South Atlantic Conference content on Wednesday (Mar. 24) to the Tusculum Pioneers by a score of 9-7.

Midway through the first quarter, Logan Gaddis got the Trojans on the scoreboard after the Pioneers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. In the second quarter, Gaddis assisted on a goal scored by Ryan Gundersen. Hayes Barnett scored a pair of goals in the quarter as well as Anderson went into halftime down 6-4.

Hayes Barnett scored his third goal of the game early in the third quarter, which was a team high. The Trojans continued to climb back into the game as Isaiah Hines scored two goals in the final period, but the Pioneers held on for the 9-7 victory.

"I couldn't be prouder of the competitiveness of our team tonight," said coach Albert Mitchell. "Although we did not get the result we wanted, we showed great hustle and played hard from beginning to end."

Sean Ring finished the game with 17 saves, while Cam Weeks was 16 of 20 in the faceoff circle with 16 ground balls. Ryley Zopfi had five ground balls, and Kaleb West led the team with three caused turnovers.

The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 31) as they play host to the Limestone Saints. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m., with live coverage available at www.autrojans.com.
