Mars Hill downed by Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-11, 0-7 SAC) was defeated by Limestone (9-9, 4-3 SAC) by a score of 82-48 Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Saints dominated the first quarter of play, outscoring the Lions 19-4. Kalisha Hill led the team with seven points in the opening 10 minutes of play as the team shot 44 percent from the floor. She collected five rebounds in the quarter to lead all players.
Limestone doubled up the Lions 20-10 in the second, heading into the half with a 39-14 advantage. The team shot 47 percent from the floor in the stanza and was led by Reagan Kargo's seven points. Maddie Gillie led the Lions with five points in the second quarter.
Mars Hill's offense began to find a rhythm in the third quarter, hitting just over 45 percent of their shots with the duo of Gillie and Naja Ngongba each recording four points while the trio of Hannah Barr, Janette Hanni, and Ariel Lucas each scored three. Quin Byrd led Limestone with six points as the team once again improved their shooting percentage, hitting 53 percent of their shots in the third.
Ngongba led all players with nine points in the fourth while Kimbrie'L Barnes posted seven for the Saints. The Lions shot an game-high 60 percent from the floor in the final 10 minutes of play.
Byrd and Kargo led the Saints with 13 points apiece followed by nine from Hill. Ngongba led all players with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Gillie ended the contest with 10 points.
Mars Hill returns home on Wednesday, January 18 when they host Lincoln Memorial. Tipoff inside Chambers Gymnasium is set for 5:30 p.m.
