Field Hockey Falls at Belmont Abbey on Saturday

BELMONT, N.C. - Coker University field hockey fell to Belmont Abbey on Saturday (Oct. 16) in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas action by a score of 3-1.

The teams battled through a scoreless first quarter, before Belmont Abbey would strike first halfway through the second quarter for a 1-0 lead. Belmont Abbey would take their 1-0 lead to the half.

The Crusaders would take a 2-0 lead less than four minutes into the third quarter, before Indy Echteld would net her second of the season on a penalty stroke with five minutes to play in the quarter. Belmont Abbey would take a 2-1 lead to the fourth, where they would tack on an additional goal to come away with the conference victory.

Victoria Humphreys, Rylie Cordrey and Britt Kabo each posted three shots in the game, while Kelsey Sithole, Lieke Bruijn, Milou Peters, Echteld and Coda Fisher each had one shot. Kelsey Gibbons made eight saves in net.

The Cobras return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 19) on the road at Limestone. The action is set for a 6:00 p.m. start from Gaffney, S.C., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
