Field Hockey Drops Sunday Conference Tilt to Queens (N.C.)

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University field hockey team dropped its South Atlantic Conference Carolinas tilt to Queens (N.C.) on Sunday (Sept. 12) by a score of 3-1.

The Royals got things started quickly with a goal off a penalty corner less than two minutes in, taking a 1-0 lead to the second. The Royals would build on their lead in the second quarter, taking a 3-0 lead to the half.

The lone Cobras goal came off the stick of Britt Kabo, her third of the season assisted by Lieke Bruijn off a penalty corner to bring the game to its eventual final score.

Coker totaled 16 shots in the contest, led by six from Kabo. Victoria Humphreys and Indy Echteld each had three shots in the game, while Sydney Call, Chase Lennon, Bruijn and Delaney Mitchell each had one. Kelsey Gibbons made 10 saves between the pipes in the contest.

The Cobras return to action next Sunday (Sept. 19) at Newberry. The game is set for a 4:00 p.m. start, with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
