#9 Women’s Soccer runs by UNC Pembroke in NCAA First Round for Coach Brown’s 100th career win

Salisbury, N.C. —- The second-seeded Catawba women's soccer team ran past seventh-seeded UNC Pembroke in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament Thursday evening at Frock Field. Catawba head coach Nick Brown earned his 100th career win in the victory.

 

TEAM STATS

- Catawba out-shot UNC Pembroke 18-14

- The Catawba Indians held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal

- UNCP took eight of 13 corner kicks

- Both teams recorded eight fouls

 

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS

- Sydney Jimmo scored the game-winner

- Bree Ehmer and Hannah Dunn also netted goals in the Tournament win

- Kelly Havens, Kylie Morin and Helen Summerell dished out assists

- Ashley Hughes made five saves in the clean sheet

- Morin and Summerell also added shots on goal

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF

- Pembroke's Anna Grossheim got the game's first shot on goal in the 14th minute

- Summerell fired Catawba's first shot on goal in the 19th minute

- Jimmo scored on Havens' ball into the box for the eventual winner in the 30th minute

- Hughes made another save for Catawba in the 34th minute

- Ehmer doubled Catawba's lead in 45th minute just before half

 

SECOND HALF

- Dunn scored a goal off a nice Morin assist in the 50th minute

- Hughes made a pair of saves in the 75th and 77th minutes

 

UP NEXT

- Catawba advances to the NCAA Second Round on Saturday, hosting #22 North Georgia at 6 p.m.
