No. 4 Men’s Soccer drops 2OT Heartbreaker to Regionally Ranked Lenoir-Rhyne

Hartsville, S.C. — The No. 4 Coker University men's soccer dropped a double-overtime thriller 2-1 to regionally-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University in South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday evening (Sept. 29). 

Che Richards would put Coker on the board first in the 27th minute of play when he would score from three yards out. Coker would hold the Bears scoreless in the first half. 

Lenoir-Rhyne would even things up in the 61st minute, before the game headed to extra time thanks to a doorstep save from Jasper Rump at the horn. After neither team scored through 10 minutes of extra time, the Bears would net the game winner in the 101st minute of play. 

Rump recorded 11 saves over 27 shots faced.

The Cobras return back to the field Saturday (Oct. 2) when they challenge Catawba College on the road. Kick off is set for 4:30 p.m., with live coverage found at www.cokercobras.com.
