Volleyball Drops Two Matches on Day Two of the Pacer Invitational

AIKEN, S.C. - The Coker University volleyball team dropped both its matches on day two of the Pacer Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 11), falling to Lander and Augusta in three-set matches.

The Cobras dropped the first match of the day to Lander by a score of 3-0. The Bearcats took the match with set scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-18. Chelsey Blume posted a team-best 10 kills in the match, while four others also recorded kills in the contest. Ashley Carson dished out a team-high 13 assists, while three others contributed assists in the match. Taylor Parker registered a team-high nine digs, while seven others recorded digs in the match. Parker and Naomi Earl-Reyes posted solo blocks in the match, while Blume, Carson Fuller and Earl-Reyes each had two block assists in the match. Taylor Hills and Parker each also had one block assist in the match.

Coker then fell to Augusta by a score of 3-0. Augusta won the match with set scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-15. Lauren Loveday led the Cobras with eight kills, while six others registered kills in the match. Rami Mullen and Carson each dished out nine assists, while three others also recorded assists in the match. Alex Williams posted a career-high 20 digs in the match, while Parker had 10 and four others also had digs in the match. Blume and Hills each had two block assists in the match, while Parker and Fuller each had one.

The Cobras are back at home on Tuesday (Sept. 14) to host UNC Pembroke in non-conference action. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. from the DeLoach Center, with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
