Bobcats Bookend Second Half To Defeat Trojans; 2-1

 MILLEDGEVILLE, GA.– Georgia College Bobcats used a goal in the opening minute of the second half and a goal in the waning seconds of the same stanza to put the Trojans away, 2-1, at the Bobcat Kickoff Classic hosted by Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.

"A tough result, but I appreciate the grit and belief from the team today," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We are excited for our home opener on Friday."

After a scoreless first half of action, Georgia College's Alyssa Bergamini connected with Cassie Balzano who was able to one touch the pass high over the keeper to put the Bobcats up, 1-0, in the opening minute of the second half.

The Trojans continued to press and was able to score the equalizer in the 58th minute of action on the assist from Havon Ashy, finished off by Chanley Pfingston. Pfingston's goal was her first career goal as a Trojan.

With just under a minute to play, the Bobcat's Balzano and Bergamini connected again for Balzano's second goal of the match (89:09).

Georgia College outshot the Trojans 22 to 8 with 12 shots coming on goal to AU's five. The Bobcats also owned the corner kick advantage, 7-2.

Anderson's keeper Jeanette Campbell recorded 10 saves on the match, while the Bobcats Kate Richardson was credited with four.

The Black and Gold will open its home slate on Friday when it host nonconference opponent USC Aiken. Kick-off is slated for 6 p.m at Spero Financial Field.
