WINGATE N.C.–Anderson University men's and women's tennis dropped its opening South Atlantic Conference matches at SAC foe Wingate on Tuesday afternoon at the Wingate Tennis Complex.

Men's tennis slips to 5-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play while No. 24 Wingate moves to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in SAC action.

Doubles pairing Ignacio Bidegain and Preston Morpeth defeated Matthew Jones and Enrico Giacomini, 8-7, while Hufelder Duarte defeated Duncan Addison, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to earn two points for the Trojans.

With the setback, women's tennis falls to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in SAC play while No. 20 Wingate improves to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

The Trojans return to action when they travel to nonconference opponent North Greenville on Thursday. First-serve is slated for 2 p.m.
