Women's Soccer Draws at Queens 1-1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Catawba and host Queens battled to a 1-1 draw in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday at Dickson Field. The seventh-ranked Catawba Indians now stand at 12-0-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the SAC. The Royals go to 9-3-1 and 6-1-1.

Queens scored first in the seventh minute. Mia Manuel one-timed a ball that had bounced over the head of a Catawba defender at the top of the box. That goal ended Catawba's record scoreless streak at 840 minutes.

The Lady Indians would respond about 11 minutes later. Catawba drew a penalty kick off a corner kick and Katie Beck converted just inside the post after Erica Turner had dove to the correct side.

That penalty would end the scoring on the night. Catawba held a 16-12 edge in shots and took all eight corners in the match. Turner had five saves as did Catawba's Sierra Davis. Davis finished with a scoreless stretch of 795 minutes.

Catawba entertains Lincoln Memorial at the Frock Soccer Complex on Saturday at 2 p.m.
