Big First Half Paces Men’s Basketball Over North Greenville 82-66

-- Catawba took a 17-point lead at the half and went on to claim an 82-66 win over North Greenville on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym. The win lifts the Catawba Indians to 4-1 on the season with the Crusaders going to 0-4.

DeAngelo Epps led the Indians once again with 18 points, hitting on 7-of-9 shots, including all three three-point tries. Adrian Scarborough had 14 points and six points with Javeon Jones adding a dozen points. Kris Robinson chipped in with 11 points.

Catawba pulled away over the final 12 minutes of the first half. Leading 19-17, the Indians netting eight points in a span of a minutes on a basket and three-pointer by Epps and another triple by Ray Kowalski to lead 27-17. Another three-pointer by Epps had Catawba up 43-23 with 3:42 to go in the half and the Indians led 47-30 at the break.

The Indians pushed the lead to 23 early in the second half and never let the Crusaders back in the game. The biggest margin came at 79-52 with five minutes left.

Catawba shot nearly 50% and connected on a dozen three-pointers. C.J. Jamison was the lone North Greenville player in double figures with 13 points,

Catawba is on the road on Tuesday, traveling to Elizabeth City State for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
