Trojans Win Second Straight With Victory Over Emory & Henry; 2-0

ANDERSON, S.C. –  Anderson University women's soccer (4-3-1, 3-1-1 SAC) secured it second straight victory defeating South Atlantic Conference opponent Emory & Henry (2-3-3, 0-2-1 SAC) on Saturday evening at Spero Financial Field.

"We are glad to get the win on senior night," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We are encouraged by the opportunities we created, but will need to be more clinical in our finishing."

"Back to work next week, as we look for two more conference results," added Jacobs.

On a night where opportunities came in bunches, AU's Camryn Woods lone first half goal in the 14th minute proved to be enough to put away the Wasps. Anderson added to its lead after Woods connected with sophomore Meggie Powell in the 87th minute to ultimately put the game out of reach, 2-0.

The Trojans blasted off 34 shots with 16 coming on goal. The Wasps keeper Sophie Wagner played a super game between the posts. Wagner was credited with 14 saves with several of those coming at point blank range.

The Black and Gold dominated possession (61%) and took 13 corner kicks to Emory & Henry's none.

Senior AU keeper Victoria McGovern logged all 90 minutes in goal and recorded two saves on the evening.

Six seniors were celebrated prior to the start of the contest. McGovern, Kristen Cole, Bethany Anderson, Lina Powell, Emma Deadwyler and Claudia Watson.

Anderson remains at home when it host SAC foe Tusculum on Wednesday. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm.
