#33/47 Men’s, Women’s Tennis pick up nationally ranked wins at Tusculum

Greenville, Tenn. —- The nationally ranked Catawba College men's and women's tennis teams both went on the road and beat #29/40 Tusculum men's and women's tennis teams, respectively in a huge matchup for South Atlantic Conference Tennis Tournament seedings on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The nationally ranked duo of Edoardo Cecere and Ryan Little extended their win streak with a 6-1 win in #1 doubles

- Mateo Berne and Marcos Castares won 6-1 in #2 doubles

- Paul Dekester and Tyler Juergens made it a clean sweep in doubles play with a 6-4 victory

- Cecere won 8-3 in #1 singles play

- Berne also made it 2-for-2 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win in #2 singles

- Alessandro Valleta also came from behind with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win in #4s

- Marcos Castares picked up an 8-5 win in #5 singles

- Ryan Little earned a 6-2, 6-1 win in #6 singles

 

#47 Catawba women 4, #40 Tusculum women 2

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Nika Dundovic and Veronika Poliakova earned a 6-3 win in #1 doubles

- Anna Wise and Ami Miya clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win

- Sofia Hernandez Mera and Rin Igarashi made it a clean sweep with a 6-1 win

- Wise trailed 3-0, but won the match on a retirement due to illness

- Miya also won via retirement after winning the first set 6-2

- Hernandez Mera helped clinch the match with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory

 

UP NEXT

- Both Catawba teams turn their attention to next week's South Atlantic Conference Tournament, with the quarterfinal matchups yet to be announced
