No. 25 Limestone Defeats Trojans; 3-0

 

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer fell to No. 25 Limestone, 3-0, in a nonconference matchup on Wednesday evening at Trojan Stadium.  

With the loss, the Trojans fall to 0-3 on the young season while Limestone moves to 2-0.

The Saints used a deflected ball that helped Abbie Iddenden gain a one-on-one opportunity with AU's Madison Paige. Iddenden was able to shoot past Paige to give Limestone the 1-0 lead in the 21st minute.

Just five minutes later, Limestone's Holly Rawcliffe kicked a perfectly placed free kick from the 20 yards out to push the first half lead to, 2-0.

The Trojans collected themselves at half and played a cleaner more aggressive second 45 minutes. After being outshot in the first half, AU outshot the Saints 12-8 with six coming on goal.

Limestone capped off the night with a third goal in the 80th minute. Limestone's keeper sailed a booming kick downfield giving Danielle Murray a clear advantage with. Murray collecting the ball and drilling it past Paige.

The Trojans return to action on Saturday when they travel to nonconference opponent UNC Pembroke. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m.
