MILLIGAN, Tenn. --- Tusculum University picked up a 6-1 victory at Milligan University in non-conference men's tennis action Thursday afternoon.
The Pioneers (1-0) took the doubles point from the Buffaloes (2-1) then won five of six singles matches to finish off the victory.
In doubles, Anton Krondell and Rens Verhaar beat Stefan Macheiner and Marcos Moreno 7-5 at flight one, and Nemanja Subanovic teamed with Ivan Ivars for a 6-4 win over Kevin Bollmannand Justin Rigsby at flight two.
In singles, the Pioneers went up 3-1 as Will Gee beat Bollman 6-1, 6-1 at flight two and Krondell outlasted Gonzaga Lafarga 4-6, 6-4 (10-6) at flight three. Yuki Ikeda delivered the clinching victory as he defeated Moreno 6-2, 6-1 at flight five, followed by a 6-2, 7-5 win by Verhaar over Gabrijel Kajic at flight four. Sarthak Sharma earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Nathan Smiley at flight six for the Pioneers.
Tusculum will play in the Eagle Invitational on Oct. 13-14 at Carson-Newman, followed by a home match with North Greenville on Saturday, Oct. 21.
