Wingate’s Saliga, Catawba’s Tysinger Named Academic All-Americans
Wingate senior Kayla Saliga and Catawba sophomore Carley Tysinger have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Softball Team, it was announced on Wednesday. Saliga is a member of the First Team, while Tysinger was voted to the Third Team.

TOWSON, Md. – Wingate senior Kayla Saliga and Catawba sophomore Carley Tysinger have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Softball Team, it was announced on Wednesday. Saliga is a member of the First Team, while Tysinger was voted to the Third Team.
Saliga, a designated player for Wingate, holds a 3.83 GPA studying chemistry. She hit .372 with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 30 RBI this season.
Tysinger, meanwhile, carries a 3.73 GPA majoring in chemistry. The pitcher led the SAC with 293 strikeouts and ranked second with a 1.29 ERA in 2014.
Tysinger was also named to both the Daktronics and NFCA All-Southeast Region teams.
