SAC Lands 11 on Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team
A total of 11 SAC student-athletes have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team, which spans the league-sponsored sports of golf and tennis.
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – A total of 11 SAC student-athletes have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team, which spans the league-sponsored sports of golf and tennis.
The All-District III Team includes student-athletes from the Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas in addition to the SAC. To earn a selection to the team, student-athletes must carry a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be a starter or significant reserve.
Newberry, Tusculum and Wingate each had three student-athletes named to the team. Wingate’s selections were men’s tennis player Matthew Lichtenstein, men golf player Braden Jackson and women’s tennis player Kelli Ferguson.
Newberry was represented by men’s golfer Matthew Killen and women’s golfers Maria Luz Besio and Julia Daneshfar, while Tusculum was represented by men’s tennis players Steven Lin and Luis Zamora and women’s golfer Jillian Corum.
Carson-Newman’ women’s golfer Melanie Manis earned a spot on the team, as did Lincoln Memorial women’s tennis player Sofia Lopez Mimendi.
