Wingate 8th, Catawba 21st at Women's Cross Country Championships
SACRAMENTO, CALIF. -- The Wingate Bulldogs took home an eighth place finish while Catawba came in 21st at this morning's NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship.
Mia Cabrera was the top finisher for the Bulldogs, crossing the finish line in 21:27.1 which was good for 41st place in the 6k course. Narrowly behind her was Firdaouss Hriche who came in 47th with a time of 21:35.8 . Wingate's Anna Martin came in 69th and Evie Brooks rounded out the top four with a 76th place finish.
Catawba's Madison Clay, the three-time SAC Runner of the Year, came in 48th place, just one second behind Wingate's Hriche at 21:36.8. Hannah Caudill was second for Catawba and 65th overall with a time of 21:47.2. Natalie Almond (127th, 22:23.3) and Eden Barnwell (187th, 23:07.4) rounded out the top four for Catawba.
Anderson's Lucy Schmitt competed as an individual and crossed the finish line in 22:20.3, good for 120th place out of 261 runners.
