Wingate's Morland Named All-American; 10 Earn Honorable Mention Status
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- Wingate's Sydney Morland was named a Third Team All-American by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and a Second Team All-American by the AVCA.
Morland, a sophomore middle blocker from Colorado Springs, Colo., earned the Regional Player of the Year accolade and was also the Conference Player of the Year. Morland led the Bulldogs to the SAC regular season and tournament titles while leading the nation on with her .449 hitting percentage while compiling a team-best 2.73 kills per set. She helped Wingate to a Regional Championship and a spot in the National Quarterfinal.
Anderson's Brantley Chipley, Ava Reeves and Ellie Nieporte, Lenoir-Rhyne's Kayli Cleaver and Averie Dale, Wingate's Maddie Hoffman, Mars Hill's Laela Jimenez and Wingate's Emily Johnson and Gabby Saye and Lincoln Memorial's Kristen Moehring were all named AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans.
