Five SAC Volleyball Teams to Represent the SAC and Southeast Region in NCAA DII Volleyball Tournament

ROCK HILL, S.C.  (theSAC.com) – The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears, the Wingate Bulldogs, the Anderson Trojans, the Mars Hill Lions and the Tusculum Pioneers will all represent the South Atlantic Conference in the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Southeast Regional, the NCAA announced tonight.

Lenoir-Rhyne is the No. 1 seed after winning the SAC Volleyball Championship title and earning an automatic bid into the tournament. Anderson is the No. 2 seed, Tusculum is the No. 3 seed, Wingate earns the No. 4 seed and rounding out the SAC Schools was Mars Hill earning the No. 7 seed. 

The Trojans will host the southeast regionals with round one and two starting on Dec. 2 lasting until Dec. 4. The winning teams will advance to the quarterfinals Thursday Dec. 9, 2021. The Trojans earned the SAC Volleyball Tournament Runner-up title and will face the No. 7 seed Mars Hill while the Pioneers will face the No. 6 seed Augusta and the Bulldogs will face the No. 5 seed Flagler. Finally, this year's SAC Volleyball Tournament Champions the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears, will go up against Conference Carolinas opponent and No. 8 seeded Francis Marion. 

Eight eight-team regionals will be played at host institutions and regional competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five-set matches and will not include a third-place match. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the semifinals and final, Dec. 10-11. Competition at the final site will be single-elimination; best three-of-five-set matches.

2021 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship Southeast Regional Schedule 

GM 1: No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne (22-7) vs. No. 8 Francis Marion (21-10)

GM 2: No. 4 Wingate (23-4) vs. No. 5 Flagler (21-5)

GM 3: No. 2 Anderson (22-77) vs. No. 7 Mars Hill (21-12)

GM 4: No. 3 Tusculum (20-5) vs. No. 6 Augusta (22-8)

The tournament will begin on Thursday, Dec. 2. The first round will continue on that Friday, and the second round will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4-5. The NCAA DII Volleyball Championship will be held on Dec. 11, 2021 in Bob Martinez Athletics Center | Tampa, FL.
